# What is Bloggen?

Bloggen is not a static stite generator; Bloggen is a tool for publishing a personal blog by compiling everyday text files (or Markdown files, Word files, RTF files, etc.) and focuses most on user-friendliness.

Setting up a blog is hard, especially for non-techies. After finding a hosting provider, one needs to install complex Content Management Software. They include hundreds of "features" that confuse more than help—tags, categories, authors, plugins—who cares?
